Alex Stephenson, Executive Sous Chef with University of Saskatchewan Culinary Services, trained in Florence, Italy, at Il Palagio, the Michelin-starred restaurant located within the Four Seasons Hotel Firenze. Prior to joining the University of Saskatchewan in March 2024, he has also served as Executive Chef for Taste Hospitality Group Canada, overseeing culinary operations and bringing extensive leadership experience to both roles.
Alex graduated with honours from the Master Chef Program at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners (ICIF) in Asti, Italy, and completed his culinary apprenticeship through Humber College in Ontario.
His combination of international training and Canadian industry experience has given him a broad perspective on culinary techniques, emerging trends, and hospitality standards. Throughout his career, Alex has held roles with several renowned organizations, including the Four Seasons Resort Whistler in British Columbia, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in Alberta, Delta Hotels by Marriott Bessborough Autograph Collection in Saskatoon, Taste Hospitality Group Canada, and now University of Saskatchewan Culinary Services.
Outside the kitchen, Alex enjoys golfing, exploring new restaurants, walking his dog, cooking for his wife, and staying active at the gym.
