Campus Rooftop Gardens

Partnered with the College of Agriculture to create the campus rooftop gardens.  Culinary Services purchases the produce from the gardens to create the food prepared for the students in the Marquis Culinary Centre.

Marquis Culinary Centre Removes Trays

The benefits of removing personal dining trays from Marquis Culinary Centre includes reducing water and energy required for cleaning each of the trays, reducing food waste and reducing the amount of chemicals that are used in the culinary services department.

Cage Free Eggs

Marquis Food Services now only uses 100%Cage Free Eggs. To learn more about why this is important visit www.chickenout.ca.

Switch to Biodegradable Take-Out Containers

Culinary Services has replaced their packaging with Sabert Molded Fiber Pulp products. These products are made from a renerable material, known as Bagasse; which is a by-product of sugarcane and are completely environmentally friendly.

Local Purchasing

The University Culinary Service Department supports our local economy by purchasing from local business and suppliers. We currently source 18% of our ingredients locally and ethically .

University Culinary Services Coffee Sustainability Program

Bring your own coffee mug and receive a ten cent discount on your coffee purchase. Offer valid at any of our University Culinary Service operated retail outlets that sells individually priced coffee.

Coffee Programs with a Conscience

Lug Your Mug Program - Save money and waste when you bring your own mug to our non-branded locations.

Fair Trade Coffee is available in all non-branded retail locations.
